Industry- Academic, Commercialization, Entrepreneurship Programs . By helping Ontario’s technology- based companies commercialize research discoveries, we are helping create jobs and drive prosperity. Our program suite covers three key areas: Industry- Academic R& D Collaboration, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship. Other key OCE initiatives are the IBM High Performance Computing Initiative and Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII). These programs bring industry and academic researchers together to address specific innovation challenges identified by industry. These collaborations between large companies, start- ups, SMEs and Ontario’s publicly funded academic research institutions (universities, colleges and research hospitals) create significant economic impact for Ontario. These programs accelerate the commercialization of Intellectual Property (IP) coming from publicly funded Canadian academic and research institutions. OCE works with high- potential early- stage entrepreneurs and innovative enterprises to help these emerging businesses grow to the point where they can attract private investment and ultimately become sustainable, global competitors. These programs foster student entrepreneurship and support entrepreneurial activities by students and youth across Ontario. This recently expanded portfolio of youth entrepreneurship programs covers a wide spectrum of entrepreneurship activities, including training and development support for students; seed capital funding for young entrepreneurs; and infrastructure support for academic institutions.
